Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s lastest episode of Mann Ki Baat propagated the hashtag #SelfieWithDaughter. In it, Modi asked Indians to share their photos with their daughters.
The hashtag flooded social media with family pictures. But some, such as Kavita Krishnan, called out Modi for his silence on the festering issue of corruption charges against two leading women ministers in BJP, Sushma Swaraj and Vasundhara Raje.
In case you are still in doubt about Krishnan’s political leanings, she’s a Marxist feminist and the secretary of the All India Progressive Women's Association. Every now and then, these communist types crawl out of whatever rock they're living under to shake their fists at the world.
But her tweet was an invitation to 'The Bhakts', who promptly came swarming, like flies to fresh turd.
And then, there was Alok Nath.
Sorry, what?! Is this really Alok Nath? The epitome of sanskar? Babuji to everyone? Did he really do this? His tweet had come shortly after his own #SelfieWithDaughter.
He deleted the offensive tweet, but he justified himself by continuing his rant against Krishnan.
With one tweet, the veteran actor has destroyed the family-friendly image he had created for himself.
There were plenty who sided with Nath's despicable choice of words, but here are some of those who didn't.
Alok Nath suddenly going from Dr.Jekyll sanskaari babuji to Mr.Hyde will be the most shocking tweet for me in recent times— Nandita Iyer (@saffrontrail) June 29, 2015
Someone shut Alok Nath up before he ruins whatever nostalgia value there was of his weepy mug doing kanyadaan all over the place.— Aditi Mittal (@awryaditi) June 29, 2015
Babuji, did someone get hold of your phone and tweet this? (Your kids would be too sanskari to use such language) https://t.co/rIPOecBRN5— Salil Tripathi (@saliltripathi) June 28, 2015
And here's a short summation of the entire incident:
