Alicia Vikander’s Fitness Secret: This is How Tomb Raider Alicia Vikander Got into Shape For the Role

Alicia Vikander is the new Tomb Raider. Here’s how she is training to play Lara Croft.

Academy award winner Alicia Vikander will reprise the role of Lara Croft in the action adventure movie Tomb Raider, which will release on March 16, 2018.  The action-packed trailer of the movie based on one of the best-selling video game series looks very promising. The last Lara Croft movie was Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, which featured Angelia Jolie, and it was 15 years back, so we are excited about this reboot. This time role of our favorite archaeologist Lara Croft is being played by Swedish actress Alicia Vikander, who was part of the movies like Ex Machina and The Danish Girl. The actress is blessed with a lean figure but for the physically challenging role of Lara Croft, she had to undergo endurance training to make her body athletic and stronger. Here’s how Alicia Vikander trained to get the ripped Tomb Raider abs.

To transform her body, Alicia trained under Magnus Lygdbäck who has trained many celebrities including Ben Affleck, Harry Styles and Britney Spears. He immediately put her on a fitness routine called the ‘Magnus Method.’ The training method is similar to that of a professional athlete as it is a fusion of sports psychology, nutrition and exercises. Lygdbäck started training the actress seven months before the filming started for the movie.

He changed the nutritional plan for the actress to boost metabolism and gain muscles. Lygdbäck also sent the actress workout videos, which included weight lifting to build muscles. The celebrity trainer joined Vikander four months prior to the Tomb Raider filming started and worked with her full time. Her workout routine included boxing, climbing about three times a week, weight training about six times a week and MMA. They also rehearsed the stunts daily. Two months prior to shooting, the actress was put on a new diet. Her workout routines were cut short to 30 minutes of HIIT in the morning. In the afternoon, Vikander had to work out in the gym for about 45 minutes. The chiseled body you saw in the Tomb Raider trailer is the result of all the training she had undergone for the role. The routine was intense but her background as a ballerina helped her to endure it and stay focused.
