AIIMS staffer under police lens for charging Rs 5L for a hospital bed in Delhi

At a time when the country is reeling under the dangerous wave of COVID-19, instances of profiteering amidst the pandemic are on an all-time high. An AIIMS staffer in the National Capital is now under the police lens for allegedly demanding Rs 5 lakh to provide an ICU bed in the hospital. After collecting Rs 2.8L from the victim, the accused ran away and was later traced down to Himachal Pradesh. During the investigation, the police found that the duo has been charging other people in the same fashion and the police are yet to figure out if there are any more people involved, hinting at a bigger racket that is been operating.
