(Eds: Adding details) Ahmedabad, Sep 22 (PTI) The number of COVID-19 cases in Ahmedabad district rose by 185 in the last 24 hours to 35,303, Gujarat health department said on Tuesday.
With three more patients succumbing to the infection, the toll mounted to 1,804 in the district, it said.
A total of 124 people were discharged, taking the total count of recoveries to 29,365, it said.
Out of 185 new cases, 157 were reported from Ahmedabad city while 26 cases were reported from rural areas.
Two of the three fatalities occurred in the city while one was reported from rural areas, the department said.
Meanwhile, the number of micro containment areas in Ahmedabad have been revised to 299.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) said that house-to-house surveillance and screening will be conducted in 12 new areas from where fresh COVID-19 cases were reported.
The city now has 3,575 active cases, the AMC said, adding that out of the total seven zones, the west zone accounts for the highest number of 646 such cases, whereas the central zone has the lowest number of 334 active cases.
The total count of infections in rural Ahmedabad reached 2,261 with the addition of 26 new cases.
The recovery rate in rural Ahmedabad stands at 95 per cent, with 2,147 patients getting discharged so far, officials said.
