(Eds: Adds details) Ahmedabad, Jun 30 (PTI) Ahmedabad on Tuesday reported 197 new coronavirus cases, taking the count in the district to 20,913, while nine more patients succumbed to the infection, the Gujarat health department said.
The district reported the death of nine COVID-19 patients, taking the toll to 1,441, it said in a release.
At the same time, 137 more coronavirus patients recovered from the disease in the worst-hit Gujarat district, taking the number of such cases to 15,968.
Out of the total 197 cases, as many as 183 were reported from within Ahmedabad corporation limits and 14 from the other parts of the district, the release said.
Also, all the nine deaths were reported from Ahmedabad city, the health department release said.
Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) reviewed the micro-containment areas in the city and removed six such areas from the list while adding two new ones.
The AMC said it will conduct intense door-to-door surveillance in the newly-added areas where fresh cases were reported, and will test suspected coronavirus patients.
One area each was added in the south and north zones of the AMC, while two micro-containment areas were removed from each of the central, west and north-west zones.
With this, the city now has 40 micro-containment areas housing around 27,368 people, the civic body said. PTI KA PD RSY RSY
