Akola (Maha), Jul 1 (PTI) Vice Chancellor of Panjabrao Deshmukh Agriculture University Dr Vilas Bhale on Wednesday batted for collective farming.
He also advised farmers to consider growing turmeric and also sugarcane for jaggery production where conditions are suitable.
Bhale was speaking after visiting a water conservation project at Sisa Masa village in the district.
Panjabrao Deshmukh University of Agriculture has developed new high-yield turmeric varieties, he said, asking farmers to contact varsity officials for help.
He also said that if water is available all year round, farmers can cultivate sugar cane for jaggery production.
Jaggery production can provide employment in villages, he added. PTI COR KRK KRK
