A team of 41 marginal Adivasi women farmers of Gadhchiroli is going on a unique educational trip organized by the Gadchiroli police. Superintendent of Police Ankit Goyal inaugurated this trip and said that the women will be touring Akola, Chandrapur and other adjoining districts to understand the latest techniques of farmers. These women with small landholdings in Naxal prone Gadchiroli often lack the technical know-how which limits their ability to earn from their land parcels. The program aims to help these women from distant villages to learn better methods of farming to help themselves financially. Jana Kumar, one of the participants said her farming was impacted as she didn't understand some nitty-gritty of modern agriculture and hopes to learn that in the tour. Sunita Satpute, another marginal farmer, says she hopes to gain new experiences. The Gadchiroli police have as a confidence-building measure tried to engage with the communities living in the interiors of the Naxal prone district and have earlier organized such tours for youngsters. This time however they have taken on a project to educate the marginal women farmers of the district.
