Adil Hussain: Bollywood missed an opportunity not casting a North-East actor in Mary Kom

Bollywood actor Adil Hussain speaks to HT City Entertainment Editor, Monika Rawal, about shooting for two films - Bell Bottom in Scotland and Footprints on the Water in Birmingham - amid the pandemic, and says one cannot let fear take over their mind. He compares working in Hindi cinema and the West, and hopes that Indian filmmakers write more intelligent scripts. The Life of Pie and Star Trek actor emphasises on the need for democratisation in the film business and wants more representation of actors from the North East India. Talking of biases, Hussain points out the pay disparity in Bollywood and urges that crew members on a film get paid handsomely because right there between what an actor gets and what the crew gets is a huge difference. The actor, who, won the Norwegian National Award for the lead actor in Pareeksha shares his views on international recognition and whether he seeks such validation back home.
