Addl Secy in Home Ministry abruptly sent back to state

New Delhi, Mar 31 (PTI) A senior IAS officer posted as Additional Secretary in the Union Home Ministry was today abruptly sent back to his cadre Madhya Pradesh without giving any reason.

M Gopal Reddy, a 1985-batch officer, was prematurely repatriated to his cadre following a decision of the Appointment Committee of Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, official sources said.

No reason was given in the order relieving Reddy from the Home Ministry with immediate effect.

Reddy was looking after several key divisions of the Home Ministry, including Union Territories, Police Modernisation besides other.

Speculation is rife in the Home Ministry about the officer’s sudden repatriation but it is not known immediately the actual reasons for his departure from the sensitive Ministry, sources said.

Reddy was also granted leave of two months and will join Madhya Pradesh government on May 31.
