Hyderabad, Feb 5 (PTI) Reflecting steady improvement in the COVID-19 situation, active cases remained under 2,000 in Telangana for the second day while 169 fresh infections took the tally to over 2.95 lakh, the government said on Friday.
One more COVID-19 death pushed the toll to 1,607 as of 8 pm on Thursday, a bulletin said.
The state, which has been reporting cases under the 300 mark for the past over a month, saw another low daily count of 169 fresh infections while 189 people recovered.
A day after its active cases fell below the 2,000 mark after several months, the number of people under treatment further dipped to 1,964, the bulletin said.
The total number of cases rose to 2,95,270 while the cumulative recoveries stood at2,91,699.
Of the fresh cases, as many as 31 were reported from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) areas, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri and Karimnagar with 11 and 10 cases respectively.
A total of 37,387 samples were tested on Thursday, taking the cumulative number of specimens examined so far to over 80 lakh with a samples tested per million population of more than 2.15 lakh, the bulletin said.
The case fatality rate in the state was 0.54 per cent, while it was 1.4 per cent at the national level. The recovery rate stood at 98.79 per cent as against 97.1 per cent in the country. PTI GDK VS VS
