Active cases touch over 33K in Kerala;2,133 new COVID-19 infections

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 11 (PTI) Kerala's active COVID-19 cases touched 33,785 on Thursday as the state recorded 2,133 fresh infections and 3,753 recoveries, the government said.

The toll climbed to 4,355 with 13 more deaths.

While the caseload soared to 10,86,012, total recoveries went up to 10,47,226, Health minister K K Shailaja said in a statement.

In the last 24 hours ending 2 pm, 69,838 samples were tested and the test positivity rate was 3.05 per cent.

According to the statement, 1,21,30,151 samples have been sent for testing.

Kozhikode recorded 261 new cases today, Pathnamthitta 206, Ernakulam 205 and Kannur 200, while seven districts accounted for over 100 cases.

Of the positive cases, 14 were health workers, 77 people had come from outside the state and 1862 were infected through contact.

As many as 1,59,401 people were under observation in various districts, including 5,026 in hospitals, the statement added. PTI UD BN BN
