Abhinav misses the gold

New Delhi: Olympian Manavjit Singh Sandhu clinched the trap gold, while unheralded Chain Singh of Army bagged gold in 10-metre air rifle event, ahead of Beijing Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra, who won the silver, at the 56th National Shooting Championship here.

Sandhu won the gold with a score of 117 + 22, while the silver was won by Birendeep Sodhi of Air India who shot 116 + 23. The bronze went to Zoravar Singh Sandhu of Air India for scoring 118 + 20.

New Delhi: Indian hockey is set to resume bilateral ties with Pakistan, with the neighbours scheduled to tour the country for a five-Test series in March next year. In a return goodwill gesture, the Indian hockey team is expected to tour Pakistan in May for another five-Test series.

Madrid: Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova was released from hospital on Saturday, two days after undergoing surgery on his saliva glands, the La Liga club said. "Given his post-operation development, Tito Vilanova has been released from hospital this Saturday afternoon," Barca said in a brief statement on their website.

New Delhi: After the Test series against England, the BCCI has now barred international photo agencies from covering the much-awaited India-Pakistan limited overs series, starting December 25, in Bangalore. The News Media Coalition (NMC) has condemned the BCCI's high-handed attitude on the issue.

Dhaka: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan said on Saturday it has not finalised a decision to send the national cricket team to Pakistan, contradicting statements by his counterpart Zaka Ashraf.

New Delhi: The players' auction for IPL VI will be held on February 3 instead of January 12. IPL chief executive Sundar Raman tweeted the news after a workshop in Jodhpur during which the decision was reportedly conveyed to all nine franchise representatives.

Though the venue for the auction is yet to be finalised, the representatives were told it would be held "in a metro".
