According to reports Aamir Khan had recommended Shah Rukh to play the role of the only Indian to travel to space, Rakesh Sharma in his biopic reportedly titled Saare Jahan Se Achha which will be directed by ad man Mahesh Mathai and will be produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur. Confirming the news Aamir spoke up about how he recommended SRK during a group interview with journalists.
"It is a great script. I loved the script and the story of Mr. Sharma is fascinating. It is true that I called up Shah (Shah Rukh Khan) and I said Shah you should hear the script, it is fantastic. It will be right for you if you like it. I am glad he liked the script and he is doing it. " - Aamir Khan, Actor
Rakesh Sharma is a former Air Force Pilot who flew aboard Soyuz T-11 in 1984, as part of a joint program between the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Soviet Intercosmos space programme. Sharma spent 7 days 21 hours and 40 minutes in space and remains to this day the only Indian to travel to space.
The film is supposed to go on floors in March 2019.
