Aam Aadmi Party to contest upcoming Maharashtra Assembly polls

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will contest the Maharashtra assembly polls likely to be held in September-October as the state was reeling under failure and systematic collapse, its national joint secretary Ruben Mascarenhas said on Friday.

AAP Maharashtra leader Preeti Sharma Menon also took a dig at the present Devendra Fadnavis-led Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena government.

Preeti Sharma Menon said, "Despite the electorate voting for change in the previous elections, the present Devendra Fadnavis-led Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena government has been a failure on all fronts."

HERE'S PREETI SHARMA MENON'S STATEMENT:

Maharashtra, once known to be to a progressive state, is today plagued by large-scale drought, floods, farmer suicides, agrarian distress, rising unemployment, crumbling law and order situation, widespread corruption, bureaucratic inertia, lack of service delivery, economic slowdown, and the near collapse of public education.

Far from holding the government accountable and ensuring some respite for the suffering citizenry, the opposition with its elected representatives is in a disarray and has failed to it's basic constitutional duty.

The Aam Admi Party (AAP), born out of a mass anti-corruption movement has demonstrated through it's work by the Arvind Kejriwal Delhi government that clean politics and a new political culture can deliver and set new records of good governance.

Our revolutionary work in providing quality education, healthcare, cheapest electricity in the country, potable water for all and world-class public infrastructure has received accolades far and wide, across the spectrum.

With a view to provide the people with a viable alternative and be the people's voice in speaking truth to power, the Aam Aadmi Party has decided to contest the upcoming Vidhan Sabha polls in Maharashtra.
