6 injured in explosions at Khamaria ordnance factory in Jabalpur, some feared trapped inside

The blast took place at the Khamaria ordnance factory when an L70 shell was being loaded to be taken to Pulgaon. Some people are feared trapped inside the building.

Six people have been injured in a series of explosions at the Khamaria ordnance factory in Jabalpur.

The first blast took place inside the F-3 section of building no. 324 in the factory around 6.15 pm when an L70 shell was being loaded to be taken to Pulgaon. There were a few more explosions in short intervals after that too, damaging buildings 326 and 328 too.

Jabalpur District Collector Mahesh Choudhary said that 25 fire tenders were pressed into service, and the blaze was put out by 9.30 pm, around three hours after it started.

The fire started at around 6.20 pm, when the factory workers had left, hence there were no casualties, said Choudhary, who visited the spot.
