Every industry vertical is weighing and leveraging IoT to increase productivity.

Internet of Things (IoT) has been touted as the next big thing in coming years, increasing efficiency and convenience in our daily lives. By 2020, more than half of new business processes and systems will have an element related to the Internet of Things, predicts Gartner.

Another report suggests that the global IoT market is projected to reach $26.951 billion by 2020 at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 35.21 percent over the forecast period.

Women entrepreneurs are not far behind in adding to the growing list of startups in the IoT space in India.

From baby monitoring to having smart gardens, YourStory lists five such IoT startups led by women.

Ray IoT Solutions

Ranjana Nair, Aardra Kannan Ambili and Sanchi Poovaya

Started by Ranjana Nair, Aardra Kannan Ambili and Sanchi Poovaya in 2015, Ray IoT solutions’ product Raybaby is a non-contact baby monitor, which monitors the vitals, respiration rate and sleeping state of babies. The wall-mounted device also helps detect abnormalities in babies, which may signify fever or other health issues. It uses Ultra-wideband radar technology to track the tiniest movements of the baby and the data is sent to a phone-based app for parents to monitor. The product is priced at $229.00 (Rs. 16,310.53).

Greenopia

Mayukhini Pande

With an aim to make home gardens smarter, Greenopia was started by Mayukhini Pande, Devyani Jain, Mani HK and Veethika Mishra in 2015. Greenopia is a smart gardening kit that consists of one or multiple smart pots and a mobile application that helps a user monitor and take care of plants remotely. The smart pots are equipped with sensors that detect the status of a plant - whether it is receiving enough water and sunlight, or if soil conditions are optimum. The app acts as a personal gardening assistant and suggests what the user could do to maintain a healthy plant.

The team claims Greenopia was born of design thinking and is targeted towards urban professionals who have an interest in home gardening and live in temperate climates.
