(Eds: With additional details) Mumbai, Nov 2 (PTI) Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally rose to 16,87,784 with the state reporting 4,009 new cases on Monday, while 10,225 patients recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, the health department said.
With 104 fresh deaths, the state's fatality count rose to 44,128, it said in a statement here.
A total of 10,225 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday, which took the number of recovered persons to 15,24,304, the department said in a statement.
Mumbai city reported the highest single-day cases in the state with a spike of 706, while Nashik district, minus municipal corporation areas, saw 341 new infections.
In the limits of municipal corporations of Thane, Nashik, Navi Mumbai and Pune, 144; 142; 123 and 113 cases were reported, respectively, the statement said.
Of the total deaths reported on Monday, 30 were from Mumbai, while Pune district, except Pune city, recorded 16 fatalities.
Pune city reported 13 deaths.
Out of the total 4,009 new cases, the second lowest daily count in the last few months, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) accounted for 1,378.
The MMR, which includes Mumbai city, Thane and some other satellite towns, has till now reported 5,86,363 cases and 18,057 deaths.
The countrys financial capital alone has witnessed 2,59,111 cases and 10,348 deaths till now.
The recovery rate in the state is 90.31 per cent, while the fatality rate is 2.61 per cent, the department said.
Currently, 25,33,780 people are in home quarantine and another 12,195 in institutional quarantine.
There are 1,18,777 active cases in the state at present.
A total of 90,65,168 people have been tested across the state so far for the virus, it said.
