4 Prayagraj Hospital Doctors Booked After Woman Who Alleged She Was Sexually Assaulted During Treatment Dies

Prayagraj, June 11: Four doctors at SRN Hospital who have been alleged to have sexually assaulted a 20-year-old woman patient during her treatment have finally been booked on rape charges. The FIR has been registered against four unidentified doctors, however, no arrests have been made so far.

Indian Express reported that the victim died on Tuesday during treatment at the hospital. Senior superintendent of police, Prayagraj, said an investigation would be done and allegations would be looked into. Hospital authorities denied any sexual assault saying nothing came out in their inquiry. The victim's body was handed over to the family later. Her statement could not be recorded by the police during the inquiry as her condition did not improve. According to the victim’s brother, he got her admitted to the hospital on May 29. She was operated two days later. 'After coming out of the operation theatre, my sister was not in a condition to speak. She asked me for a pen and paper to write something. She indicated by writing that something wrong had been done with her by four doctors in the operation theatre. The case is filed under IPC sections 376-D (intercourse by any member of the management or staff of a hospital with any woman in the hospital) and 376 (2)-D (being from the management or on the staff of a hospital, takes advantage of his official position and commits rape on woman in that hospital).
