Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 3 (PTI) Kerala added 4,600 new COVID-19 cases and 25 deaths on Sunday, taking the tally to 7.75 lakh and the toll to 3,141, while no positive cases were detected in U.K returnees, Health Minister K K Shailaja said.
'No positive cases were reported in the last 24 hours from those who had returned from the United Kingdom,' she said.
Thirty seven people who returned from the U.K. to Kerala recently tested positive for COVID-19 The day also saw 4,668 people getting cured as the total recoveries rose to 7,07,244, while active cases stood at 65,278, she said in a release.
The total COVID-19 cases in the state touched 7,75,852.
A total of 47,291 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate was 9.73 per cent.
So far, 80,66,113 samples have been tested in the state, the minister said.
Of the fresh positive cases,49 were health workers,61 had come from outside the state, 4,039 infected through contact and the source of infection of 451 people was not known A total of 2,36,664 persons were under observation in various districts, with 11,369 in isolation wards of various hospitals.
Ernakulam recorded the highest number of cases at 728, followed by Malappuram 522, Kozhikode 511, Kottayam 408, Pathanamthitta 385 and Thrissur 328.
Kasaragod accounted for the lowest number of 41 cases.
