33-year-old CRPF officer commits suicide in Kashmir

M Arvind, 33-year-old assistant commandant of the CRPF of 40 battalion (44 batch DAGO), committed suicide by shooting himself with his personal weapon at his residence in Sadar area of Anantnag. The officer joined the CRPF in 2014.

He returned back from his leave on August 14 and his wife joined him at the place of posting on August 20. Initial inquiry leads to some marital problems.

No foul play has been detected and an inquiry has been ordered. The mortal remains will be sent to his hometown today.

There are some reports in social media attributing the incident due to bad living conditions which is untrue.

"There is no foul play. There are some reports in social media attributing the incident due to bad living conditions, which is untrue," a senior official of the force said.

The officer hailed from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and his body is being sent to his hometown, the official said.

An inquiry into the alleged suicide incident has been ordered, he said.
