30,000 children afflicted by the pandemic, says NCPCR's affidavit in Supreme court

Between April 2020 and last week, more than 30,000 children were abandoned, orphaned, or lost one of their parents. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights' (NCPCR) most recent data submission to the Supreme Court is by far the most thorough assessment supplied by states on the status of children affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The data was published to the NCPCR's "Bal Swaraj" website by the individual states and union territories. The Commission inserted a disclaimer to an affidavit filed to the Supreme Court, noting that the cause of death of the parent(s) might be anything other than Covid-19.
