An astounding ton by Shai Hope helped West Indies beat Sri Lanka in the first ODI at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua.

The stylish opener fired his 10th ODI ton, which set the foundation of a one-sided win.

After claiming an eight-wicket victory, the hosts now lead the three-match ODI series 1-0.

Match: How did the match pan out?

After opting to bat, SL made a resounding start, with openers Danushka Gunathilaka and Dimuth Karunaratne adding 105 runs.

While skipper Karunaratne departed on 52, the former was sent back for obstruction of field.

Eventually, the visitors got bowled out on 232.

In reply, WI made it a one-sided affair, completing the run-chase in 47 (Evin Lewis: 65, Hope: 110, Darren Bravo: 37*).

Hope: Hope slammed his 10th ODI ton

A magnificent century by Hope fueled the run-chase for West Indies.

He ended up scoring 110 off 133 deliveries, an innings that was studded with 12 fours and 1 six.

This was his 10th hundred in One-Day Internationals.

In the process, Hope became only the eighth player from West Indies to score 10 or more ODI tons.
