Due to the Mahashivratri holiday in few parts of India, Ayushmann Khurrana’s Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan became the 3rd highest opening film of his career while Vicky Kaushal’s Bhoot opened on the expected lines at the box office.
Vicky Kaushal is back with the latest horror flick, Bhoot, after giving a powerful performance in URI-The Surgical Strike (released on 11th January, 2019). Directed by debutant Bhanu Pratap Singh, who gives a chilling encounter of a haunted ship which is left stranded on a beach in Mumbai, Bhoot is produced by Dharma Productions along with Shashank Khaitaan and Apoorv Mehta. Also starring Bhumi Pednekar, Bhoot got good user reviews as per BookMyShow.com which has led to a morning show occupancy of 15-20% which is good considering it was pitted against Ayushmann Khurrana’s Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. There was a slight growth in the evening and night shows which led Bhoot collected Rs 5.10 crores which is very much on the expected lines from 2000 screens in India.
With this collection, Bhoot will become 2nd highest solo opener for Vicky Kaushal in his career after URI-The Surgical Strike (Rs 8.20 crore). Bhoot will also be the 6th Highest Opening day of 2020 after Tanhaji , Love Aaj Kal and Street Dancer 3D, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Malang. The budget of Bhoot is Rs 30 Crore (Production Cost: 20 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: 10 Crore)
