Firozepur, Oct 20 (ANI): Health officials seized hundreds of quintals of spurious milk food 'Khoya' from a cold storage of a sweet shop in Firozepur in Punjab on Saturday ahead of festivals of Dussehra and Diwali.
Raids were conducted at Jagdambe cold storage and samples were taken for testing by health officials from other shops as well.
Talking to the reporters, Inspector from Health Department, Punjab, Kanwaljeet Singh gave details of the raid conducted by the department.
"Around 4 o' clock, the officials from the health department raided the cold storage and they recovered 1000 kilograms of 'Khoya' (adulterated milk food). We took the samples of it and sent it to the for quality check.
"We also took samples of Khoya from S K sweet shop, Madaan Sweet shop, Surya-Di-Hatti, Bhagatji-Di-Hatti. We have also sealed other items and taken into custody and we will take appropriate action against the culprits after we receive final report from the lab," said Kanwaljeet Singh

Waiting for the reports to come, Singh also said that the culprits' will charged under various offences of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Food Adulteration Act.
Ahead of Diwali and Dussehra, health department often conducts raids in many sweet shops and cold storages, where huge quantities of prepared sweets, meant to be sold during the festival season are stored. (ANI)
