10 lowest team totals in IPL history

As hyped and exciting as the Indian Premier League is, the tournament has seen some depressing low scores by some teams. With records ranging from highest runs, maximum wickets, fastest centuries etc., below is a list of record holders for the lowest team totals in IPL history.

Chennai Super Kings

The men in yellow failed in unison chasing 140 runs against the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede in 2013. Dhoni’s team folded for just 79 runs in 15.2 overs.

Kochi

Deccan Chargers blew Kochi Tuskers Kerala away in 16.3 overs with only 74 on board. They were chasing 130 runs.

Kings XI Punjab

KXIP could only manage a measly 73 runs against Rising Pune Supergiants in 2017 at Pune. KXIP played only 15.5 over with a run rate of 4.6 before being wiped out by the Supergiants. The Pune Supergiants finished the match in just 12 overs with a score of 78/1.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

26th April 2014, Abu Dhabi witnessed RCB bow down in embarrassment with 70 runs in 15 overs against Rajasthan Royals. RR quickly matched up the score and won the game in 13 over at a score of 71/4.

RCB shocked its fans with a horrifying 70 runs all out in 17.1 overs and a run rate of only 4.07. Chennai Super Kings won the match on 23rd March 2019 at their home turf.

Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR scored a shameful 67 runs in 15.2 overs, losing to Mumbai Indians in 2008 in Mumbai. MI won by eight wickets with 87 balls remaining.

Delhi Daredevils

DD was simply not in the form in 2017 when they lost to KXIP, scoring only 67 runs in 17.1 overs and at a run rate of 3.9. The match was held in Mohali.

It took only 13.4 overs for Mumbai Indians to bowl out DD in 66 runs at their home ground on 6th May 2017. They were chasing a score of 212/3.

Rajasthan Royals

RR scored a dismal 58 runs with a run rate of 3.82 against RCB. The match held in Cape Town in the 2009 season saw the team all out in 15.1 overs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Holding the worst lows ever in IPL, RCB played against KKR on 23rd April 2017 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. 2017. Their runs were stunted at a total of 49 on 9.4 overs with a sombre run rate of 5.06.

The glorious IPL tournaments have paid accolades and awards to many teams and players, but there have been some record-breaking disappointments too.
