'Nishabd' actor Jiah Khan commits suicide

MUMBAI: Twenty-five-year old Bollywood actor Jiah Khan allegedly committed suicide on Monday night by hanging herself at her Juhu residence, police said. The police added her maid, watchman and neighbours are being interrogated to find out her last visitors.

"She had been depressed for some time due to personal issues, but was keen on returning to acting soon. She was also meeting filmmakers regarding projects," sources close to Jiah told Times of India.

The daily added that no suicide note has been found so far and the body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for postmortem.

Jiah had a fortnight back tweeted, "So sorry I have been off twitter! Took a bit of a break from twitter verse.. sometimes u need a sabbatical to recollect ur thoughts."

Jiah made her Bollywood debut in Ram Gopal Varma's controversial movie, 'Nishabd', where she acted opposite Amitabh Bachchan. She also got a Filmfare Best Debutant Nomination for
the movie. She also acted opposite Aamir Khan in Ghajini and Akshay Kumar in Housefull, which was her last film.

Jiah was brought up in England and had shifted to Mumbai recently to act in Hindi films. (With agency inputs)
