    Wealthy UP family parades Dalit woman naked

    A middle-aged Dalit woman was brazenly paraded naked in Chandwapur village of Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district on Saturday.

    An affluent Dalit family put Ram Pyari, 45, through this public humiliation as they believed her husband, Darbari Lal, had helped their daughter Jayanti elope. Jayanti, a divorcee, had been living with her parents for the past two years. She had eloped with Mannu, a youth from the village.

    SP Amit Chandra confirmed the incident and said five youth from the family have been arrested. “ It was a well- planned crime. While Haridwari Lal, Jayanti’s father, was registering a complaint against Darbadi Lal at Isanagar police station, his family members were torturing Ram Pyari,” he said.

    “They had kidnapped and locked her in their house on Friday night. However, they paraded her naked the next morning when she couldn’t give any clue about Jayanti’s whereabouts,” he further said. Ram Pyari later told the police that out of the 500 in the village no one had dared to intervene to save her.

    “They abducted and locked me in a room. But they got furious when I told them that I had no idea about where Jayanti was and who she had eloped with. So they dragged me into the street and ripped off my clothes. They also groped and beat me with batons and belts,” she told the police.

    The incident is gradually taking on political hues with Iqbal Ahmed Khan, Congress district president, saying his party will not sit by and allow such injustice to take place. “The victim is a poor Dalit woman while the accused are wealthy Dalits with political links... Recently, a girl was raped and killed in a police station in the same district. These incidents took place in a state where the CM herself is a Dalit woman. We will raise the issue of rising crimes against women,” Khan said.

      A woman's modesty has been outraged and that is by itself a crime of very serious nature. Unfortunately the victim happens to be from an economicaly weaker section while criminals from affluent section. Where is the need to report "Dalit woman paraded naked" when both culprits and the victim happen to be "Dalits". Reporting of this kind unnecessarily encourages class based division.

      There is fundamental wrong policy idea and concept that got into to wrong place like constitution . Ghosts are always out . something unnatural is happening in India which the writers of constitution failed or it is fowl .Indian politicians are helpless now as they were once at the time of draft of constitution. Equality and freedom for all is not working .Unconscious politicians gave birth to unconscious Constitutions .

      Good and Bad both are everywhere,irrespective of religion,cast,creed etc. Only political leaders create the differences among the people for their political gains. I hope now the dalits will realize who are their real enemies and not savarnas. Over the years,at least in UP,Congress only has created and cultivated the dirty game of differences between the castes and religions.
      Over the years,the dalits were not allowed to take education and they were not allowed to come out of their poverty, thus, restraining them from coming out of their poverty and denying the development as other casts enjoyed. This has kept them backward only and they stuck to the old ethics and living standards. All political parties have exploited this condition time and again and enjoyed their votes in elections.
      That's why, this NAKED TRUTH must be understood by all the countrymen and teach a lesson to all politicians!!!!!

      itzz of no matter dat is she dalit or not???? she was forced and it is a big crime...mayawati should be shameful of dis act..... and must accept dat she is not fit for CM as she cannot protect her DALIT+womans. This is very shameful for the whole country.
