Hanoi, Jan 5 (IANS) Vietnam and India Thursday marked the 40th anniversary of their diplomatic relations at a ceremony in the Ho Chi Minh City.

Visiting Indian Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Ranjit Rae and Vietnamese officials attended.

India and Vietnam Thursday also marked the 5th anniversary of their strategic partnership (2007-2012).

Both sides began their bilateral relations Jan 7, 1972.

The 'traditional friendship' founded by the then Vietnam president Ho Chi Minh and then Indian prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru reinforced that bond and become an invaluable asset of the two countries, said Huynh Thanh Lap president of the Vietnam-India Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City.

Both nations have cooperated in the fields of politics, security, defence, trade and investment, culture, tourism and human resource development.

In the last decade, the two-way trade turnover has increased significantly and is expected to surpass $3.5 billion, said Lap.

The Indian minister said Vietnam is a special and respectful friend of India.

Vietnam holds a strategic position in India's 'Look East' policy, and enjoys priorities in its foreign policies, Xinhua quoted Ahamed as saying.

Participants of the two sides expressed their belief on mutual trust and friendship, it said.

There is a lesson to be learnt from History ( When you dig a pit for someone else, it is a matter of time before you fall in it !!)
      1) Indira Gandhi created Bhindar valle in Punjab, they were the reason she died !!
      2) She created LTTE, and later back tracked an they were the cause for her son Rajiv's death !!
      3) Americans created the Taliban against Russia, and the Taliban later struck America
      4) Chinese are arming Pakistan and NKorea with Nuclear weapons, it is a matter of time that these countries will pound China
Best way to win over your enemy is to ignore him/her, you only make your opponent stronger by attacking him. Why are South Indians more docile than the North, they havent faced war for centuries.
Any evil conception no matter howmuch of a mastermind you are will hit you on your face! well someday ! when you least expect it !
Think about it ... China doing so well for itself, its economy booming, while NKorea, Pakistan getting eaten up day by day
And China is the only country where Muslims are kept under control, even the Imams get to learn about Islam with a 50% Capitalism in their syllabi .. its a matter of time the Muslim world will target China as its new Enemy just like it targetted america

Ignoring an opponent as to not make the first move in attacking is always good, it is also wise to have friends with common interests (enemy of the enemy is a friend). Vietnam is one such friend. While arming it is a bad idea, being cordial in trade and economic development is the best step forward !
