A recent handful of arrests in Bakersfield may be connected to the rash of vehicle thefts happening at Bakersfield College. School leaders say its promising news for the campus community and its visitors. There is a cold front pushing into Northern California this morning, and there are gusting winds riding down the valley ahead of that system as it moves on shore. The wind is funneling through the Tehachapi pass and rushing down into the desert, gusting winds up to 50 mph in Mojave. As a result there's a wind advisory in effect for the Kern County desert cities until 9 a.m. this morning.

It was a comfortable 73 at 11 p.m. this evening...down 10 degrees from last night at that time. Those strong NW winds have subsided but they could pick up again tomorrow afternoon. High on Wednesday will range from 86 to 92 on the valley floor with more substantial cooling into Thursday and Friday. Bakersfield topped out at 93 degrees this afternoon...10 degrees above average but all that heat is moving on just in time for the weekend.
