New York, May 24 (IANS) US stocks opened mixed Thursday on mixed economic reports and ongoing euro zone concerns.
On the economic front, orders for durable goods increased a slight 0.2 percent in April, the Commerce Department said Thursday.
Meanwhile, initial claims for state unemployment benefits slipped by 2,000 to a seasonally adjusted 370,000, the Labor Department said.
Spain has warned it cannot continue longer with its current high borrowing rates and urged a joint European response to help.
The Dow Jones industrial average gained 9.16 points, or 0.07 percent, at 12,505.31. The Standard & Poor's 500 was up 1.58 points, or 0.12 percent, to 1,320.39. The Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 1.31 points, or 0. 05 percent, to 2,848.81.
