Mumbai, Feb 23 (IANS) US Under-Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco J. Sanchez Thursday opened the new US Commercial Service Trade Information Centre at the American Consulate here.
The new centre will enable Indian companies to learn about the trade promotion resources offered by the US, an embassy spokesman said.
"Indian companies can interact with the commercial service executives for information about programmes, connecting with US suppliers and other initiatives like trade missions and market research," he said.
The US Commercial Service is a part of the US Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration (ITA), which is at the forefront of President Barack Obama's National Export Initiative.
Bilateral trade between US-India totalled $58 billion in 2011.
