U.S. to review drone policy in Pakistan, claims Rehman Malik

Karachi, Oct. 9 (ANI): Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has claimed that U.S. officials had given him an assurance to review the policy of using drones in tribal areas of Pakistan, following opposition against drone strikes from the country's government.

Malik said he apprised the U.S. government of Pakistani people's concern about drone attacks, which were counter-productive, reports The Nation.

Malik said he apprised U.S. officials of the resentment of Pakistanis towards the use of drones, and that Pakistani rulers were dubbed as 'American stooge' due to Washington's drone policy.

Malik, who was on a two-day visit top Washington, held a bilateral meeting with the Working Group on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement and Anti-narcotics. He also met Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and FBI director, Robert Mueller, as well as the director Homeland Security. (ANI)
