Twitter, Facebook torrent: Bollywood wishes Amitabh Bachchan

New Delhi, Oct. 11 -- The entire nation is celebrating Big B's birthday. How often does that happen? Pick up any newspaper, switch on any news channel and surf through any website, Amitabh Bachchan is there. Stars are wishing him on Twitter and if his bash yesterday night is anything to go by, the man is the crowned potentate of Bollywood.

A career spanning over 5 decades and donning of distinct hats worn with panache, is awe inspiring, to say the least. Still, he manages to retain a calm exterior. That's when you realise that he is a man at the ripe old age of 70!

The intense stardom did not come easy. It might look that way, but it didn't. Famously flunking the AIR audition, the man went on to prove THAT selection committee wrong, for sure. Eventually he has worked his way up ignoring the naysayers, believing the myth of Phoenix and internalising his father's philosophy.

Amitabh Bachchan, who has recently updated his cover photo thanking his fans on Facebook, has already got some 32,022 likes and 7,741 comments. The actor also wrote a note for fans on his page saying:

I come to express my grateful thanks to all that have wished me, and merely say this ..

Without you my life would have been incomplete ..

The blessings of the Almighty, the affection and care and upbringing of my parents and my family, and the deep love of my well wishers has kept me alive .

I am whatever I am today because of all the above . it has been so from the beginning, it shall remain so till the end ..

Love affection and more ..

Amitabh Bachchan
