Dhanbad, Aug. 22: The district unit of BJP today came out in support of Dhanbad MP P.N. Singh who is allegedly hobnobbing with outsourcing companies working in various collieries of BCCL.
The outburst of deputy mayor Niraj Singh against the MP, indicating that the latter had illegal dealings with the firms, came after a face-off between supporters of the two on August 17 at Kusunda coal dump of BCCL.
Speaking to the media during a press conference here at the party office, district BJP president Hari Prakash Lata said the deputy mayor was making attempts in vain to malign the image of the MP out of frustration.
Making the party stand clear on the issue of outsourcing in BCCL collieries, Lata said the BJP was always against the policy, as it helps private companies to carry out mining work in violation of all norms.
"We have time and again always protested against outsourcing companies at places such as Gopalichak, Lodna, Keshalpur, Ekra and Jogta demanding minimum wages and housing for labourers, besides limited hours of work. We do not support any outsourcing company on any wrong issues, as being alleged by the deputy mayor," said Lata.
Instead of making false allegations, he added, the deputy mayor should focus on his duties in the municipal corporation, pointing out that heaps of garbage lay unattended at various places in the district, besides overflowing drains.
