Washington, Oct. 20 (ANI): Celebrities and bigwigs from America's star circuit have helped propel US President Barack Obama's joint fundraising committee last month to lofty financial heights.
Oprah Winfrey, who gave 40,000 dollars, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marques Colston who gave 73,000 dollars, jewelry designer David Yurman who gave 40,000 dollars and ESPN host Stuart Scott who gave 25,000 dollars, are among famous personalities to pony up big dollars for the 'Obama Victory Fund'.
According to a new federal campaign-finance filings, actors and entertainers making donations in September include Chevy Chase (14,000 dollars), Marlo Thomas (10,800 dollars), Sam Waterston (10,000 dollars), Scarlett Johansson (7,000 dollars), "Days of Our Lives" star Deidre Hall (5,000 dollars), Nancy Sinatra (3,198 dollars), Elizabeth Banks ($500), and Tracey Ullman ($500) and Patricia Richardson ($360), among other big faces, Politico reports.
Other Obama backers in the world of sports include former pro basketball player and ESPN analyst Len Elmore (2,500 dollars), Detroit Pistons President Joe Dumars (2,000 dollars) and Princeton University men's basketball coach Mitch Henderson (2,000 dollars), the report said.
On the social media front, Zynga Chief Executive Mark Pincus gave 40,000 dollars, while Twitter Chief Executive Richard Costolo chipped in 10,000 dollars, it added.
The Obama Victory Fund is the committee, which funnels cash to Obama's presidential campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and several state-level political committees. (ANI)
