Calcutta: Trainer Bharath Singh's filly, Silverina, pulled off a sensationally upset victory in the 2,000m Calcutta Monsoon Derby, on Saturday. In process of her one length victory over Pesi Shroff's charge, Angel Child (P. Trevor-up), also a filly, Silverina, complemented her bloodlines as the 10-1 shot humbled the masculine power in the seven-horse field. Jockey Pradip Chauhan partnered the Silverina, by China Visit out of Silver Print, who pocketed the winner's purse of close to Rs 40 lakh. Bharath's course-favourite, Slade Valley was never in the race and to make the matter worst, the 13-10 public-choice pulled up lame well before the race took a serious turn. Malpensa, also a Bharath-trainee, placed third in the race.RESULTS
