Tashkent, Oct 8 (IANS) Indian Davis Cuppers Vishnu Vardhan and Sanam Singh entered the main draw of the $125,000 Tashkent ATP Challenger being played at the Olympic Tennis School here.
In the final qualifying round, Vardhan, ranked 267 and seeded third in the qualies, scored a 2-6, 6-1, 7-6(5) win Sunday over German Martin Emmrich in two hours and three minutes.
Vishnu served 20 aces which helped at crucial points. In the final set, Vardhan broke in the 11th game to go up 6-5 but lost his own service game in the 12th forcing a tiebreak.
In the tiebreak, Vardhan two good down-the-line winners to close the match and ensure a main draw spot and five ATP points for qualifying. Vardhan will take on Russian Igor Kunitsyn in the first round.
Sixth seeded Sanam Singh outplayed fourth seeded Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia 6-2, 6-0 in just 53 minutes. Sanam played smart tennis against the higher ranked and taller opponent, lashing out an array of backhand winners in both sets.
Sanam, currently ranked 355, will take on another qualifier Oleksandr Nedovyesov of Ukraine in the first round of the main draw.
