Samajwadi Party elated over Dimple contesting Kannauj by-election

Lucknow, May 26 (ANI): The Samajwadi Party (SP) workers on Saturday appeared to be delighted with the party's decision to field Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's wife, Dimple, for the Kannauj Lok Sabha by-election slated for June 24.

Ram Adhar Sharma, a Samajwadi Party worker, said Dimple would win the Kannauj Lok Sabha by-election by a huge margin of votes.

"A respectable position has now arisen for all of us party workers. Honorable Dimple ji will be reaching the Parliament by winning with a huge margin of votes. There is no end to our happiness. We are very much delighted today, as our wishes have come true," he said.

"At least 60 leaders of the Samajwadi Party will reach the Parliament and even more than that. And the final result will be that Mulayam Singh Yadav will become the next Prime Minister of India. Our morale is so high that nobody can defeat us. Nobody can stop 'netaji' from becoming the Prime Minister," he added.

Sharma further said the Samajwadi Party performed exceptionally well in the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls because of some effective political principles propagated by Mulayam Singh Yadav.

"We have won Uttar Pradesh because of 'netaji's' (Mulayam Singh Yadav) effective policies and the state has got a young chief minister in the name of Akhilesh Yadav," he said.

Another Samajwadi Party leader echoing similar sentiments said the entire party workers were waiting to see Dimple Yadav as a Member of Parliament, and added that their wishes have now been fulfilled.

"We all party workers are very happy with the decision. We wanted to see the wife of our honourable chief minister, Dimple Yadav, as a Member of Parliament from a very long time. The Samajwadi Party has fulfilled the desires of the party workers. We all are very happy. Dimple Yadav will reach the Lok Sabha after winning by a huge margin," he said.

"Dimple Yadav is the daughter-in-law of 'netaji' (Mulayam Singh Yadav) and the wife of our honourable chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav. The whole region wants Dimple Yadav to become a Member of Parliament and eventually raise the problems faced by the people," he added.

The Samajwadi Party workers gathered here also raised slogans in praise of Dimple Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The parliamentary constituency fell vacant after Akhilesh Yadav resigned from the Lok Sabha after he was sworn in as a member of the UP Legislative Council after becoming the Chief Minister.

The decision to field Dimple Yadav as the party's candidate for the by-polls was taken the by Samajwadi Party Parliamentary Board, which met in Lucknow on Friday. (ANI)
