New Delhi: Discontinued since 2001, Western India Football Association (WIFA), the parent body of Maharashtra football, has decided to revive the prestigious Rovers Cup from the next season. The total prize money for the tournament would be Rs 1 crore.
According to WIFA sources, the 122-year-old tournament will be played at its traditional venue, the Cooperage in Mumbai, from July 27 to August 11, next year. The decision to revive the Rovers Cup was taken after the WIFA signed a Rs 100 crore 10-year deal with Sporting Ace for development of the game .
Calcutta: Vikas Singh emerged as the champion of the boys' singles under-18 category of the Calcutta Hard Court tennis tournament at the South Club on Wednesday. He defeated Parikshit Somani 6-3, 6-3 in the final. In the boys' singles under-10 category final, Asish Sinha defeated Amaan Wasim 4-1, 4-1.
