Amethi, Feb. 6 (PTI): A poll observer who allegedly ordered that the motorcycle rally of Robert Vadra, Priyanka Vadra's husband, be stopped in Amethi was transferred but the Election Commission said the two incidents were not connected.
Chief election commissioner S.Y. Quraishi said the transfer of Pawan Sen, an IAS officer, was not linked to the incident. However, "to avoid misinterpretation by some mischievous people, we have since kept on hold his transfer", Quraishi added.
Robert was stopped because the number of motorcycles exceeded the permitted 10, district magistrate J.P. Gupta said. Sen had ordered that a FIR be filed against the local Congress candidate.
Quraishi told PTI: "Today's incident is unrelated to the observer's transfer. The commission this morning decided that Sen (a Goa cadre officer) be posted as deputy commissioner in south Goa after complaints from various parties about the present DC in south Goa."
The incident involving Robert occurred in the evening.
