Imphal, Oct. 17: Rivaskar Singh moved into the quarter-final of the 2nd CYLC State-Level Open Tennis Championship played at the CYLC ground on Singjamei Chingamathak Deco Turf court in Imphal West today.

In the men's singles second round match, Rivaskar Singh defeated T. Pamei by 9-5 games to proceed to the quarter-final.

In another match, Imocha Singh defeated T. Romba Singh by 9-2 games to move into the quarter-final as well.

The men's singles first round was played earlier in the day. Rk. Pritam got the better of Nalindro Singh by 8-5 games, N. Tomba Singh defeated Jayenta Singh 8-6, N. Kangjamba Singh defeated Ch. Tony Singh 8-3, Kh. Amarjit Singh defeated S. Chaoba Singh by a simmilar margin, N. Premjit Singh drubbed Romen Singh 8-0, N. Sanjoy defeated L. Romesh Singh 8-1 and Azad Khan thrashed Bhogen Singh 8-0.

PYKKA scheme

Thoubal district moved into the quarter-final of the kabaddi event defeating Bishnupur district by 46-8 points in the State-level Women Sport Competition under the PYKKA scheme held at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.

Thoubal scored a double victory as they later trounced Senapati district by 43-5 points en route to the quarter-final. Imphal West registered a 40-26 point-victory over Imphal East. In the kho kho event, Churachandpur district defeated Bishnupur district by 10-5 points to move into the next round.

Martial arts: H.Henna Devi has been selected to represent India in the 55kg-category in the 2nd Asian Vovinam Championship and 3rd World Martial Arts Festival from October 19-22 at Kish Island, Iran.
