Pakistan arrests 11 Indian fishermen, seizes boats

Pakistani maritime security forces have arrested 11 Indian fishermen and impounded two boats for illegally entering Pakistan's territorial waters in the Arabian Sea, a security official said on Wednesday.

The arrests were made on Tuesday about 35 nautical miles inside Pakistan's exclusive economic zone, said Lieutenant Nadir Mateen Afridi, a spokesman for Pakistan's maritime security agency.

The South Asian rivals, whose relations have warmed in recent years, frequently arrest each other's fisherment for encroachment.

Last week, 39 Indian fishermen were arrested and seven boats were impounded.
