'Recalled' Chinese bullet trains to gradually resume operations after 'modifications'

Beijing, Nov 14 (ANI): China will gradually resume the operation of 54 bullet trains, which were earlier called off over safety concerns following a fatal July train crash.

About 40 people were killed and 192 injured when two high- speed bullet trains travelling on the Yongtaiwen railway line collided in Wenzhou in China's Zhejiang province on July 23.

Chinese train manufacturer, China CNR Corp. (CNR) had recalled CRH 380BL model trains running on the high-speed railway between Beijing and Shanghai after the accident.

CNR had also suspended CRH 380BL model trains' supply after detecting flaws in their automatic braking systems.

The recalled trains were probed for equipment failure and modified accordingly.

Six trains will resume service on the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway from November 16.

"After a three-month process of modifications and repeated tests, previously reported problems with the CRH 380BL trains have all been fixed. Operations will gradually resume starting from Wednesday," Xinhua quoted a railway official,as saying.

"If everything goes well, all the recalled trains will resume service by Dec. 6," he added. (ANI)
