Mumbai, May 27 (PTI) Kannada film actress Marrayya Monica Susayraj accused in the sensational Neeraj Grover murder case has expressed a desire to record a confessional statement before a magistrate and the process has already begun, police said today. "She expressed this desire to us on Sunday evening.

As per her wish, we made an application before the court yesterday and Susayraj was transfered to judicial custody. A part of the statement was recorded today before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate," Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria told reporters here today.

The statement recorded as per the provisions of Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code before a magistrate can be presented as an evidence before the court during the trial while those recorded before police do not have evidential value. "Though we have all the necessary evidence, this will definitely bolster our case," Maria said.

However, he clarified that the police does not plan to make Susayraj an approver in the murder of TV production house creative head Grover on May 7 this year. Grover was stabbed to death by Susayraj's naval officer fiancee Lt M L Jerome Mathew inside her apartment in suburban Malad over a suspected "love traingle".

Susayraj and Mathew allegedly chopped Grover's body to several pieces and then disposed it by burning in neighbouring Thane district. Mathew was allegedly unhappy with Grover's proximity to Susayraj while Susayraj, who was aspiring to get a break in TV serials, was continuing with the friendship hoping to get a break, police have said earlier.
