Shimla, May 20 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh not to ban new LPG connections in the hill state. In a letter written to Singh, he said the state has already banned felling of trees and no alternate fuel was available for domestic requirements, an official release said.

He said if the LPG was not made available to the consumers and new connections not given to the applicants, it would put pressure on the forests thereby affecting the green cover. Dhumal said the state has been demanding wheat allocation as per its requirement under APL scheme and has been supplied much lower quota as compared to the demands.
