AI aircraft nose gear collapses in Mumbai airport

Mumbai, May 16 (PTI) An Air India aircraft's nose gear collapsed when it was proceeding to pick up passengers at the international airport here for a flight to Dubai. No one was injured in the incident as there were no passengers or cabin crew on board the Boeing 777-200 (Extended Range) aircraft leased by Air India, an airline spokesperson told PTI in New Delhi.

"The nose gear failed prior to position of the aircraft for boarding," he said. An alternative aircraft was immediately made available to operate flight AI-717 to Dubai and it took off at 1600 hours with the passengers.

The spokesperson said the damaged aircraft was later towed away for repairs. PTI.
