Yekaterinburg (Russia), May 15 (PTI) Favouring greater interaction amongst their business communities, the Russia-India-China (RIC) Trilateral forum today decided to hold special conclaves to boost trade and economic ties. The Foreign Ministers of the three countries, who met in this scenic resort town nestled in the Ural mountains, decided to convene meeting of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Russia and India and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in Moscow this autumn.
The second trilateral business forum is scheduled to take place in China in 2009, while the next meeting of the RIC Trilateral Forum will be held in India. External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and his counterparts from China and Russia Yang Jiechi and Sergei Lavrov respectively held wide-ranging discussions here which they said was contributing to the shaping of a "multi-polar, stable and harmonious world.
" Substantial work to establish cooperation between experts of the three countries on health and medicine, and disaster mitigation and relief has been started, the ministers noted. The forum agreed to hold first trilateral meetings covering these subjects later this year.
They reaffirmed the need for a comprehensive reform of the United Nations with a view to make it more efficient so that it can deal with the current global challenges more effectively, a joint communique issued after the meeting said. The ministers confirmed their countries' commitments made under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol and underlined the need to develop greater interaction in international cooperation to combat global climate change.
