New Delhi, May 14 (PTI) The terror outfit behind the serial blasts in Jaipur did not succeed in carrying out its nefarious design to whip up communal passions by attacking people at a temple, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil today said. "Their aim (to create communal disturbances) has been thwarted.
The people of Jaipur have not allowed their nefarious design to succeed," he told reporters here soon after his return from a two-day tour of the north eastern region. Of the eight blasts last night, which left over 60 dead, one occurred near a Hanuman temple in the walled city where a large number of devotees turned up for worship.
The Home Minister, who has been closely monitoring the situation, said he was in constant touch with senior Home Ministry official, M L Kumawat, who was now camping in Jaipur. The situation is under control now, he said.
Patil, who will visit Jaipur tomorrow to have a first hand account of the situation, said the need of hour was to fight terrorism jointly. "We have to fight terrorism resolutely," he said.
The Home Minister said Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel have been rushed to Jaipur and if more forces were needed, the Centre would act promptly. Patil said all necessary assistance would be provided to the state government.
The Home Minister appealed to the people to maintain calm and foil the designs of anti-national elements. PTI.
