Jammu, May 14 (PTI) The 'Daily Excelsior' has decided to pay a lifelong pension of Rs 10,000 per month to the widow of photographer Ashok Sodhi who was killed in the crossfire between security forces and militants in Samba on Sunday. Sodhi (45) had worked as a lensman with the Srinagar- based English daily for more than 20 years.
He was struck by a stray bullet while doing live coverage of the gunbattle between Army and BSF units and heavily-armed militants in Kali Mandi area of Samba district on Sunday. The staff of Excelsior have hailed the decision of Publisher and Editor-in-Chief S D Rohmetra as a "model for other newspaper estblishments" in the country, especially in states affected by terrorist and Naxalite violence.
