Cuttack (Orissa), May 13 (PTI) The Orissa High Court today dismissed a PIL seeking a CBI inquiry into the killing of child marathon runner Budhia's coach Biranchi Das but directed the police to complete the investigation quickly. A bench comprising Chief Justice A K Ganguly and Justice B N Mohapatra refused to interfere in the case saying it was very early on the part of the court to interfere at this stage.
The court, however, directed the state police to complete the investigation expeditiously and take necessary action against the presons found guilty. The court observed it was a sensational case with prima facie evidence of certain high profile persons seemingly behind it.
A top bureaucrat has been relieved of duties, a police commissioner and several other senior policemen have been transferred as a fallout of the case, the bench said. Manasranjan Sahu, a youth from Dhenkanal, had moved the High Court seeking the CBI probe into the April 13 murder and arrest of senior IAS officer Priyabrat Patnaik on the basis of statements made by prime accused Raja Acharya and his co-accused Chagala alias Akshyaya Behera.
